What Happens When Teachers Get Tired of Waiting for Someone Else to Build the Right Tool?
We built AssessAlign — a standards-based reading assessment platform designed by educators, for educators.

After spending time in the classroom, I know firsthand what most assessment tools lack — and how much a simple design with actionable insights actually matters.
The Problem Teachers Are Really Dealing With
Here's what educators face every day with current assessment tools:
Passages that are too long. Are the scores reflecting student ability, or are students simply giving up because the demand is too high?
Questions disconnected from the standards being taught in real time. Three snapshots a year isn't a feedback loop; it's a highlight reel. How do educators really know how their students are doing?
Data that confirms something happened, but offers no direction for what to do next.
Unrealistic expectations. Educators are expected to analyze data, form instructional groups for "What I Need" time, and plan those sessions... on top of daily teaching demands.
AssessAlign Was Built to Fix That
Here's what it does differently:
Shorter, standards-aligned passages designed for the 15–20 minute instructional window — not a testing marathon.
Questions tied directly to assessed standards so your data maps back to your curriculum. We're assessing skills, not just knowledge.
Actionable analytics — not just scores, but insight into which standards students are struggling with.
Teacher-driven assessment creation. Choose the standards you're teaching that week, build the assessment in the platform, and receive timely, targeted insights about each learner. Because feedback only works when it's both actionable and timely.
Auto-generated skill groups based on standards performance, ready to inform your small-group instruction the same day.
Formative, not summative. Built for the feedback loop inside your instruction, not just the end-of-unit moment.
Built by Educators, for Educators
Chris Carlozzi and I connected on LinkedIn and combined our expertise to build a custom web app that creates a low-maintenance, high-impact standards-based progress-monitoring system for all students.
It delivers more actionable insights for educators and surfaces student groups by standards mastery — developed so teachers can target the exact areas of need, without the extra analysis overhead.
What's Next
We're currently in the prototype and pilot phase and are looking for educators, curriculum directors, and instructional coaches who want early access and are willing to share feedback that shapes the product.
If that's you — drop a comment, send a DM, or follow along on LinkedIn as we build this in the open.
What happens when teachers get tired of waiting for someone else to build the right tool? We build it ourselves.
